Rick James Estate Sued for $50 Million Amid Rape Accusation The late singer is accused of violently raping a teen during a visit to a youth detention home in Buffalo, New York, in 1979. According to 'Page Six,' the unidentified accuser said she was “very uncomfortable” and accused Rick James of being “very suggestive and inappropriate.” Unidentified Accuser, via 'Page Six' The accuser claims to have suffered ongoing "physical, psychological and emotional injury" that led to alcohol, substance abuse and "serious thoughts of suicide." Darren Seilback, the accuser's attorney, told the 'Buffalo News' that the woman informed someone of the alleged rape, but it was never reported. Darren Seilback, via the 'Buffalo News' James, who was previously convicted of assaulting two women in 1993, died in Los Angeles on August 6, 2004.
